What to do on Holiday in Cornwall

6 July 2016

We asked the guys at Helpful Holidays to put together their top things to do on holiday in Cornwall. If you could have the perfect holiday itinerary for your visit what would they include in it.

This is what they came up with:

Catch a Show at the Minack Theatre

You've not visited the theatre until you've experienced the Minack. Built into the cliff-face at Porthcurno, the open-air Minack makes the most spectacular, dramatic location. There are some fantastic performances this year, especially the Three Belles for authentic 1940s vocals. Make sure you bring a blanket and something comfy to sit on, a picnic and a flask of hot tea too!

Explore the Flora & Fauna at Trebah

Spring is the best time to visit Trebah and see all the different varieties of flowers and shrubs. Rated among the 80 finest gardens in the world, Trebah houses rhododendrons that are 100 years old, beautiful magnolias and camellias alongside the giant Gunnera Passage and pretty Monet-style bridge over the pond. But one of the best ways to while away a summer afternoon is sat on the private beach at the bottom of Trebah enjoying a Cornish ice cream!

Enjoy a Day at the Beach

If you're looking for a day out at the beach, look no further! One of the best beaches is Maenporth in Falmouth. It has a large stretch of sand and is perfect for a family day out with bucket and spade! One of our favourite cottages is 35 Lower Stables. Overlooking Maenporth with unrivalled views, you can be on the beach in minutes – that's our kind of holiday!

Attend the Local Events

If you can time your visit to coincide with one of the local events it's a lot of fun and you'll get to enjoy fantastic nightlife, live music, street markets and carnivals. Our favourite events include the Fal River Festival (30th May-5th June), Falmouth Week (5th-14th August) and Fowey Week (6th-14th May). Take a look here to see what other events are happening soon.

Visit Mousehole

Mousehole is a firm favourite with visitors with good reason! Containing a small safe beach, narrow streets housing pretty fisherman's cottages and a famous history thanks to "The Mousehole Cat", the pretty fishing village is a lovely place to spend a long weekend or hole up for a week near the water to refresh yourself with a bit of salty sea air and proper Cornish ambience! Check out the romantic, quirky and colourful Clovelly Cottage in Mousehole for a well located, perfect holiday cottage in Cornwall.
