King Harry Charity Gig Race

from 29/05/2010 until 29/05/2010.

Raising money for Cornwall Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre the King Harry Charity Gig Race is a pursuit race down Ruan Creek back to the King Harry Ferry.

Around 15 traditional Cornish rowing gigs compete each year with slower boats starting first and the faster ones last. After the race two lanes of the King Harry Ferry are closed and rowers board the ferry for pasties, beer and some live music.

All proceeds go to Cornwall Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre in Truro.
 
Launching: Mylor Yacht Harbour. Free launching & £5 for car & trailer parking.

Tide:
LT 1317, 1.0m HT 1904, 5.3m  VHF: Ch 72

Berthing: Use pontoon next to KHF under organiser’s instruction. Please can ALL crews stay in boats, coxes ONLY on pontoon. Toilets available at King Harry Offices.

Race: Pursuit Race. Start line up Ruan Creek back to the King Harry Ferry.  2.6 Miles.

Parking: At Trelissick Gardens (£3.50 per car for non NT Members).

Apres Gig: Half the King Harry Ferry will be closed after the race for prize giving, beer & food and we have a live Jazz Band booked.

Beer:
King Harry Ale has been supplied by Skinners. £2 donation will be gratefully received for CRASAC.

Food:

Wigs:
Teams wearing comedy wigs will get a 10 sec head start.
T-Shirts: All teams will get a FREE event T-shirt for each rower & cox.
Prizes: 1st prize is the ‘King Harry Chain Ling Trophy’.

Spectator Boat:  A St Mawes Ferry will follow the race.  £2 pp donation gratefully received. Departs the Trelissick pontoon at 18:00.
