Festival 2010 Dates set

After last year's success where 30,000 people enjoyed 130 events over nine days, organisers of this year's Fal River Festival are planning to make 2010's event an even greater spectacle.

Celebrating life on and around the Fal over 150 events are being lined up for this year's festival which runs from Friday, May 28 though to Sunday, June 6, at various locations in the area.

Already confirmed as the centrepiece event is the first Fal Fish Festival, which has gained support from celebrity chef, Rick Stein.

Festival director, Toby Budd, said: "The Fal River Festival has become a key date on the Cornish calendar, and strives to represent all aspects of life on the Fal.

"We're really excited to have the support of the Greenbank Hotel and Rick Stein for the Fal Fish Festival.

"It's also great to announce that the extremely popular Fal River Walk and Fal River Swim will be taking place once again.

"And for the second year running the King Harry Ferry will be turned into a floating cinema.

"This year's event calendar is starting to look very promising and we're still searching for new dynamic events and activities to add to the diary."

Celebrating life on and around the Fal the festival covers a diverse mix of culture, music, arts, food, literature, drama, industry, events, gardens, sports and history.

Festival Chairman, Tim Light, said: "The plans for this year's festival are starting to come together, with sponsors approaching us and event ideas coming to light.

"Our focus is on encouraging people to come forward with their event proposals and ensuring Fal River Festival is a success once again."
