Embark Ferry Art
Throughout August 'Embark: Ferry Art' presents the exhibition 'Vessel' by
artist Dean Owens. The work attempts to depict the idea of human as vessel, a container and carrier of emotion. Owen states 'The cup acts as a visual metaphor for the fragile containment of emotions.'
Owens completed a BA in Fine Art at Derby University and more recently an MA in Illustration at University College Falmouth. He lives and works in
Cornwall and teaches at Plymouth University. He has exhibited in the
Midlands and Cornwall. Since relocating to Cornwall Owens co-founded the art research journal 'POST' and has since set up the small publishing house Red Beak Press.
The 2009 series of 'Embark: Ferry Art' is curated by FOTONOW and supported by King Harry Ferry, University College Falmouth and the Sign Shop Penryn.
