Maritime Museum Welcomes the Lighthouse dads

Last week the Maritime Museum held an extra special workshop for a group of dads and their kids from the Lighthouse Children’s Centre.

To coincide with the launch of their new exhibition Lighthouses: Life on the Rocks, the Museum welcomed the Lighthouse Dads group for a special lighthouse themed Museum Minnows session.  These innovative early years workshops aim to give young children and their parents or guardians a truly unforgettable first experience of a museum.

Lighthouse Dads is a drop-in group for fathers and grandfathers to have fun and bond with their children, which usually meets every other Saturday at The Lighthouse Children’s Centre in Falmouth.

Education Assistant Debbie Rogers said: “With our new exhibition Lighthouses: Life on the Rocks it seemed only right that we link-up with the Lighthouse Children’s Centre.  The group loved the new exhibition and storytelling and said they can’t wait to come again.”

As well as the regular monthly Museum Minnows drop-in sessions, the Museum now runs tailor-made workshops which are open to pre-schools, nurseries and child minder groups.  To find out more contact Debbie Rogers at the Maritime Museum on 01326 214535 or email debsrogers@nmmc.co.uk.

Andrew Hurtel-Hymans and his son Isaac Hurtel-Hymans enjoy the lighthouse activities at the Maritime Museum.
