Another Bumper Year for Falmouth Tourist Information Centre

FALMOUTH Tourist Information Centre has just received a cheque from the National Maritime Museum Cornwall for £522.68 after another bumper year of referring visitors.

This is the second year of the joint initiative where every visitor referred to the Maritime Museum by the TIC receives a 10% discount on their ticket. The TIC then receives a 10% commission on that sale. For their work during 2008 the Falmouth TIC earned £522.68 which is approximately 650 visitors that they've referred.

Angela Arnold, Supervisor at the TIC says: "For the second year running we have been delighted with the results of this joint initiative. Being able to give our customers an added incentive to visit one of Cornwall's major attractions has created an extra source of revenue for the centre. Hopefully 2009 will be even better."

Michael Sweeney, who presented the cheque from the Maritime Museum, says: "The scheme continues to prove to be a great success and, as well as Tourist Information Centres, we've had a lot of hotels, B&Bs and other accommodation providers join, and would happily welcome working with any other providers interested in joining the scheme.

"We are enormously grateful to Falmouth Tourist Information Centre for all their support and all the hard work they do for local tourism as a whole."
