Antiques Roadshow comes to Falmouth

The BBC's Antiques Roadshow is coming to Falmouth this September on Events Square and in the National Maritime Museum Cornwall.

Dust off your grandfather clock, rummage in the attic and go through your cupboards, BBC One’s Antiques Roadshow rolls into town on Thursday, September 13 on the Events Square and in National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth.

Several years have passed since the Antiques Roadshow were last in Cornwall and months of planning, site visits and logistics by a number of parties has led to Falmouth being chosen as the Roadshow’s final destination for filming for 2012.

Jonathan Griffin, Director of National Maritime Museum Cornwall says: 'The Antiques Roadshow is one of our most loved programmes, treasured as an icon of the BBC and we are so pleased to be welcoming them to Falmouth.'

'Their choosing to come here speaks volumes and with up to 3,000 people expected to be attend and 120 crew, this is a welcomed boost to the economy of Falmouth as we near the end of the peak summer season.

'And, with 8 million viewers watching the programme when it airs next year, it’s is like an hour long advertisement for Falmouth.'

Superb opportunity

Some of Britain’s leading antiques and fine arts specialists will be on hand to offer free advice and valuations to visitors.

People with large pieces of furniture or other big items are asked to send details, accompanied by a photograph, to the Antiques Roadshow on The Roadshow team may be able to help transport your item.

Richard Wilcox, Falmouth Business Improvement District (BID) Manager concludes: 'Wow what an events year Falmouth has had now topped off by the visit of the BBC Antiques Roadshow!

Access to the event starts at 9.30am and will close at 4.30pm. Entry to the show is free.
