Eden Project Marathon

11 March — 11 October 2009

Eden Project and St Austell Running Club are to hold the first Eden Project Marathon on Sunday 11th October 2009.

The Eden Project, an educational charity, is a symbol of what ordinary people can do if they put their minds to it. The Project promotes the understanding between people and the natural world around us. In a world where we are facing immense challenges it exudes a spirit of positive change. If we can build this place, together we can take on these challenges.

Over 10 million people have passed through the Eden gates since opening in 2001. The world-famous Biomes, nestled into a worked-out china clay pit, have transformed a once-scarred landscape where nothing grew into something quite beautiful and fertile.

Eden is an integral part of the community in which it sits. In many ways Eden acts as a catalyst for economic growth in the local region, not only by providing much-needed jobs but also by supporting businesses as part of its local sourcing policy.

The idea of hosting the Eden Project Marathon came from a conversation with the local St. Austell Running Club. What better way to explore our natural environment than actually running through it
