With only a day to go before this year's festival excitement is building in Fal River HQ.
It’s the day before the start of the Fal River Festival and in between putting all the last minute touches to arrangements for the Beer Fleet and anxiously checking the weather forecast, we’re getting really excited – there’s a Christmas Eve feeling in the office today!
We often hear Beer Fleet day called the best day of the year, and for many it signals the start of the summer season; it’s the last chance many will have to indulge in an afternoon having fun on the river until the autumn.
We’re really looking forward to seeing students from our title sponsor, Truro & Penwith College performing on Events Square on Friday night. They’re a talented bunch and sure to be the music stars of tomorrow!
The 10 day festival is packed with great things to see and do. If it’s great music you’re looking for, the 3 Choirs in the Garden (Saturday 25th, 7.30pm at Trelissick) or Jazz on the Quay (Wednesday 29th, 4pm at St Mawes) are not to be missed. Foodies are well catered for at the Fal Fish Festival (Saturday 25th – Monday 27th, Events Square) where some of Falmouth’s leading chefs will be giving demonstrations and passing on their tips on cooking with fish.
This year, the festival is packed with art and artists. From exhibitions to children’s workshops and even a river cruise describing how a wide range of artists have been influenced and inspired by the Fal River, you could find yourself inspired to get your own paint brushes out!
Falmouth University students have really got behind the Festival this year and they’ll be popping up in lots of locations – look out for the Creative Blitz shows and workshops (Wednesday 29th, from 10am on Events Square) or the Fashion Show (Wednesday 29th from 3pm at The Fish Factory).
The Fal River Festival guide is out now so make sure you pick up a copy so you don’t miss a thing. And if you’re feeling brave enough, why not sign up for the RNLI Castle to Castle Swim or the BF Adventure Abseil at the Maritime Museum?!
