The enchanting world of gardens at night is brought to life with international night time photographer, Linda Rutenberg, at The Lost Gardens of Heligan on Sunday 7th June.
Listen to stories from behind the lens as the evening begins with a fascinating talk from Linda, exploring how she captures the visual drama and hidden secrets of gardens at night. Under cover of darkness Linda Rutenberg and her husband Roger Leeon have explored the nocturnal treasures of gardens across the globe. The rewards of their late-night adventures around The Lost Gardens of Heligan are the subject of a unique set of eight art postcards, which are available exclusively from the Heligan Shop.
Discover the techniques and special tricks used to capture the surprising world of plants by night and then set out on your own adventure into an enthralling visually transformed landscape.
The Northern Gardens will be open to explore, where you have a chance to put your newfound knowledge into practice; with particular areas of this magical setting illuminated for dramatic effect in your own photographs. Alternatively, purely indulge in a captivating journey, revealing secret gardens, candle-lit pools, Victorian glasshouses and a wealth of plants, trees and shrubs from across the world as you discover the mysteries of the Lost Gardens beneath all the glory of a full moon.
During the garden opening Linda and Roger will be based in The Sundial Garden where they will be demonstrating her photographic techniques. Learn the tips from this lady of the night as she exposes the sensual, sculptural and surprising world of Heligan's plants and trees, basking in the shadows.
Light refreshments will be available after the talk with hot drinks and home-made treats from the Heligan Bakery on offer. Sensible footwear and torches are essential and cameras and tripods are recommended to take advantage of this special event.
The Night Time Photography talk will start at 8:30pm.
