The Alverton Takes Truro to Four Star Heights

From 29 July 2013

The historic and Grade II listed, The Alverton, has become Truro’s first and only 4 star hotel setting the bar for service, decor and facilities in the City.

The coveted fourth star which was awarded by the AA, the UK’s most recognised and respected rating authority, marks a successful first month for the hotel since it revealed a stylish new look across all 33 of its bedrooms, public areas and grounds as part of an extensive refurbishment programme.

In a double achievement, the hotel’s brand new brassiere restaurant and cocktail bar has also been given the AA’s seal of approval and awarded a Rosette for its innovative menu and use of local produce.

The award puts The Alverton among the top 10% of restaurants in the country and showcases the new but experienced team of Head Chef, Restaurant Manager and Bar Manager, as being a winning combination having been headhunted from within the local community to bring together the best of local talent in each field.

Responding to news of the awards, Operations Director, Kearan McVey, commented: “We are thrilled to be awarded four star and rosette status and very proud to be leading the way in Truro. Our extensive restoration project and continued investment in customer service is part of our commitment to maximising the visitor experience, and to be recognised for quality in this way is testament to the hard work and passion of the whole team involved.”

Malcolm Bell, Head of Visit Cornwall, added: ““It is fantastic news that the Alverton has been awarded four star status, together with a rosette for the quality of their food offering. These grading and accolades are not easily gained and are a result of high levels of professionalism, attention to quality and detail, combined with, great team work and outstanding leadership. Well done to the owners, directors, management and staff. It is also great to see Truro having a high quality four star, which has been a missing offering for the city as the commercial and administrative centre of Cornwall,”

The Alverton’s restoration continues and even more highly anticipated improvements will be rolled out throughout the coming year. For more information visit
