Trethem Mill is delighted and very proud to announce that we have been awarded Gold for “Holiday Park of the Year” at the prestigious South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2009-2010. The awards celebrate the ‘best in the South West' and aim to promote and reward the leading businesses and individuals in the tourism industry. To win the award the Park needed to demonstrate outstanding levels of customer service, exemplary facilities, have an informative and inspirational website, along with a commitment to sustainability and being accessible to all. The awards night is the highlight of the tourism calendar and this year it was held at the Saunton Sands Hotel, Devon. Guest speaker and presenter was Gill Williams, Travel Editor of the Sunday Mirror.
The Park has been owned and run entirely by the four family members for over 17 years. They have now been joined by Ian and Jane’s son Jake, who is on an apprenticeship scheme through Truro College.
Sue Lovell, Business Centre Manager at Truro and Penwith College says:
“It is fantastic to see Trethem Mill Touring Park doing so well. We are very proud to be supporting Jake through an apprenticeship in Customer Service. Our Advisers visit Jake at the Park, so the training he receives is completely tailored to their requirements. Jake is also attending a number of our Business Skills Seminars to boost his skills in areas such as Marketing, Networking, Reception Skills and Finance, and it has been great to see his confidence and abilities flourish. Employing apprentices can help businesses increase staff retention, remain competitive, boost profit and clearly, in this case, help to win awards. There’s never been a better time to think about what apprenticeships could do for your business, and Jake at Trethem Mill is an excellent example of how they can help to drive businesses forward.”
This latest award follows hot on the heels of the Gold that the Park was awarded a few weeks earlier at the Cornwall Tourism Awards, again for “Holiday Park of the Year”. Trethem Mill will now go on to represent the Southwest region at the National EnjoyEngland Awards for Excellence in April 2010.
