About Lowen Our new eco-cottage is named Lowen, (Low energy/Cornish for happy). It's a zero carbon, energy self-sufficient house. It uses energy from the sun and ground to provide electricity, heating and hot water to the house (as well as sending surplus electricity back to the grid). The cottage faces south, with beautiful views down the valley towards the woods from the lounge. Wherever you look, there's something to capture your attention, like the huge, timber beams, which make up the structure of the cottage were reclaimed from St Lawrence's Hospital and are hundreds of years old. Lowen's been decorated and furnished to a very high standard in keeping with the ‘Bosinver style'. Where possible, all the furnishings are eco-friendly and/or recycled and locally sourced. We've used Designer Guild fabric throughout. The décor includes artwork and furniture by Cornish artists and craftspeople. Praise for Lowen “Pat has raised the bar once again with Lowen – a fantastic fusion of high quality and low impact. As a CoaST Ambassador, part of Pat’s role is to be an agent of change, to influence and inspire people to be the best they can when it comes to building a resilient and sustainable world – and she’s done that with bells on this time. We know without doubt that visitors who come to stay in Lowen will have the most fabulous holiday, in a beautiful setting, in extraordinary comfort – and come away thinking fundamentally differently about the world, and their ability to actually change it for the better, with every choice they make. Pat is without doubt one of our game changers. Power to her - and her family’s - elbow!” Manda Brookman Director of CoaST: Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project www.coastproject.co.uk “It's a testament to Pat and Dave's success that, once guests visits for the first time, they tend to come back year after year… It's little surprise when you take stock of how well Bosinver caters for children and, in turn, how much pressure that takes off parents. With the completion of Lowen, Bosinver has also taken its green ethos to a new level, losing nothing in the way of luxury in the process.” Tom Watts Destinations Manager, greentraveller.co.uk
