Gyllyngvase Beach, or Gylly to the locals, is the town’s main beach, a short walk from the town centre and is also a Blue Flag beach.
Gylly Beach is overlooked by Pendennis Castle and has fabulous views acroos towards the Helford River and the Lizard Penisula. It has all the amenities you could want and lively cafe that often has barbecues, live music and other events throughout the summer months.
A ten minute walk down the coast will bring you to Swanpool beach where you’ll find another cafe, crazy golf and a water sports centre. Swanpool is more sheltered and very popular in good weather. When the swell and tide are right there’s even a spot of surfing to be had at the beach.
Maenporth beach is slightly further along the coast and at low spring tide brings with it an expanse of sand and rock pools. The shallow waters of the beach and its accesibility make it perfect for families.
