St Mawes Castle is the most perfectly preserved of Henry VIII's coastal fortresses. It was built to counter the invasion threat from Europe, working in partnership with Pendennis Castle across the Fal estuary.

The castle commands magnificent views that can be best appreciated from the mighty battlements. There is a free audio tour to assist in exploring the wonderful architecture and sub-tropical gardens so relax and enjoy the setting.

Open: Apr-Sep, Sun-Fri, Oct daily, Nov-Mar Sat & Sun, (ex 24-26 Dec & 1 Jan), from 10am
