An Unforgettable Garden Gem

Nestling in rolling parkland near Truro, Trewithen estate boasts one of the most unforgettable gardens in Cornwall.

At every turn, there is some new wonder to behold. From champion trees to rare shrubs, from a wildflower meadow to woodland glades, from exotic fern collections to tree top viewing platforms, it would be hard to find anywhere more beautiful or more intriguing.

The estate is still privately owned but, on certain days, visitors are given the opportunity to tour the house. Remarkably unchanged in appearance since 1715, Trewithen House is considered to be one of the most elegant examples of 18th century architecture in Cornwall.

With more than 1000 plant species on sale – including over 40 different camellias - it is perhaps unsurprising that Trewithen Nursery has become one of the county's most popular places for discerning gardeners to buy their own botanical treasures. Most of the plants are grown from Trewithen's own stock and all are renowned for their superb quality and attractiveness of price.

Trewithen’s Tea Shop is situated in a leafy corner close to the garden entrance. Morning coffee, light lunches and delicious cream teas are served there – with outside seating available when the weather is fine.
