So, we’ve reached the end of another Fal River Autumn Walking Festival and the most enduring memory has to be how the weather wasn’t always as kind to us as it could have been...
But there were some sunny days; and some days that started off dull and wet but miraculously became warm and sunny by lunchtime, so it wasn’t all bad.
We all know that walking is good for you but did you know that being outside and enjoying the countryside can have health benefits too? And what better place to enjoy the natural environment than around the Fal River – we might be biased but we think it really is one of the most beautiful rivers in the country!
We also think it’s great that there’s so much going on in the area, even at this time of year. Festival-goers have been able to enjoy Halloween workshops, garden tours and seasonal cookery courses; they were even able to get out on the river to enjoy a story cruise with Adverse Camber.
We hope you have found time to download at least one of the walks during the festival. But don’t worry if not; the downloadable pdfs will stay on the website, so if you fancy a Boxing Day walk, Valentine’s Day walk or even just a sunny weekend winter walk, they’ll be there waiting for you.
We’d also like to thank the sponsors of the Fal River Autumn Walking Festival, without whose support the festival wouldn’t have been possible. So thanks to our headline sponsor The Nare Hotel and also to the walk sponsors St Anthony in Roseland Cottages, Hawkshead, The Old Quay Inn Devoran, Helpful Holidays, Bosinver Farm Holidays, Rick Steins, Visit Falmouth, The Valley, Mylor Yacht Harbour, National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Budock Vean Hotel, The Alverton, The Greenbank Hotel, Trennick Mill and Meudon Hotel.
Next year we’re planning a bigger and better festival so look out for news by following us on Twitter @falriverwalking or liking us on Facebook. Dates for next year are Friday 17th October to Sunday 2nd November 2014.
