Join the fun on the water at the 5th Classic Sailing Pilot Cutter Review. Price includes all food and accommodation on board.
We expect about a dozen pilot cutters and the sight of them close quarter sailing in the entrance to St Mawes Harbour is awesome. There will be historic Bristol Channel Pilot Cutters, modern traditional wooden built pilot cutters from Luke Powell and David Cockwell.
No experience is required to sail in this event as training will be given before the race.
Join on the Monday at 4pm followed by training on the Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday a sail to Fowey with a welcome Beer and Cheese, Tribute Beer thanks to St Austell Brewery, at Prime Cellars. If you have ever been to Fowey Town Quay and looked across the water to the old slate building on the far side of the estuary, that's Prime Cellars. Invited guests and Pilot Cutter Crew only.
On Friday there is the 24 mile Tribute Passage Race from Fowey to St Mawes starting at 10 am outside Fowey, good view from Fowey Castle as they leave Fowey. There is a Crew supper in St Mawes Social Club in the evening. On Saturday there will be two races, 11am and 2pm starting on a line of three yellow buoys south of St Mawes Castle at the entrance to St Mawes Bay. Excellent view point at St Mawes Castle.
All the weekend races are two laps round a course in Carrick Roads organised by St Mawes Sailing Club who we are very grateful to for their assistance. There will be a barbecue at Turnaware Point on Saturday evening.
Sunday will see the final race starting by the St Mawes Castle at 1 pm followed by a Prize Giving Ceremony at St Mawes Sailing club at 5pm.
