New Heligan Plant Centre Official Opening ~ 2pm
Roy Lancaster will be officially opening the new Heligan Plant Centre.
The new look Plant Centre is stocked with a wide variety of high quality plants, carefully nurtured in the Heligan Nursery. A fine selection of shrubs, perennials, alpines and exotica are on offer, reflecting those seen within The Lost Gardens, as well as some more unusual collections.
The ‘Heritage Collection' features Camellias and Rhododendrons from Heligan's National Collection. These incredibly special and unique plants have been propagated from the Heligan specimens, many of which are over 100 years old.
The Plant Centre also stocks a range of alpines from the Stella Rankin collection, introduced by the collections namesake, another modern day plant hunter. Many of these plants are very rare and some have so newly been introduced, they have yet to flower in this country.
The ‘Heligan Survivors Collection' is inspired by those plants which were revealed during the gardens discovery, flourishing amid the gardens dereliction. The ‘Heligan Survivors Collection' includes many iconic Heligan plants such as Tree Ferns, (Dicksonia antarctica), Chusan Palms, (Trachycarpus fortunei) and the Himalayan Strawberry Tree, (Cornus capitata).
Everyone can enjoy free entry to the Heligan Plant Centre, Shop and Tearoom all year round.
