The country is gearing up to show its support for Armed Forces personnel, families and veterans.

And Falmouth is playing a key role having been chosen as the host town for Armed Forces Day Cornwall which will take place on Sat 22 June 2013.


What a day in store! Fly-bys, search and rescue demos out on the water, naval ships to look around, armoured vehicles on display, military parades, a fantastic interactive day for all the family is planned.

All daytime events, displays and activities at each venue run between 10.00am and 17.00hrs. There will be road closures in place in the town centre from 09.30am to 17.00hrs. Royal Marines Band Concert starts at 7pm.

11.00am – Veterans parade
Parade of Veterans and Standards led by the Culdrose Band. Follow the parade to Events Square to witness the Opening Ceremony at 11.30am.

11.00am-12.00pm - Military Wives Choir
RNAS Culdrose Military Wives Choir will be performing between11am and 12pm.

11.30am – Opening ceremony
The Lord Lieutenant Colonel Edward Bolitho OBE officially opening Armed Forces day Cornwall 2013

12.00pm - Venom Display
Designed to replace the Vampire, the Venom was developed by deHavilland in 1948. 
Venue: over the inner harbour

13.00hrs - ATC & ACF Composite Band
Pipes, bugles and drums mini-concert taking place at Events Square.
Venue: Events Square
Duration: approx. 15mins

14.00hrs - Avro Anson Display
An historic aircraft that first went into operation in 1936. With only a handful still flying today, she is indeed a unique piece of aviation history.

14.10pm - Beat The Retreat
Royal Marines Band will perform Beat the Retreat on Events Square immediately after the Avro Anson aerial display.

15.00hrs - Search & Rescue Display
An inshore and Severn Class all-weather lifeboat from Falmouth RNLI Station will undertake a mock rescue in the inner harbour accompanied by a Sea King helicopter from RNAS Culdrose 771 Air Sea Rescue Squadron.

16.00hrs - Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
A Spitfire and Lancaster, two of the most iconic and historic aeroplanes ever built will take to the skies over Falmouth for a 10-12 minute display.

19.00hrs - Royal Marines Band Concert 
The Royal Marines Band Service is renowned as one of the finest musical organisations in the world. Join us at the FREE performance in Falmouth.

THROUGHOUT THE DAY

RFA and Royal Navy Ships 
Your chance to look around two fascinating ships that will be berthed alongside Queen’s Wharf in Falmouth Docks. FREE ferries will run throughout the day (10am-5pm) from Prince of Wales Pier.
