Beauty & the Beast from Mars 2010/2011 Winter Tour

24 November 2010 — 26 February 2011

Miracle Theatre Company returns this winter with a wacky and vibrant mix of live music, comedy and space-age mayhem in its new show, ‘Beauty and the Beast from Mars’.

Featuring an alien intent on world domination, rocking tunes and a plot inspired by science fiction B movies, Miracle's latest offering is a refreshing alternative to the usual family pantomime.

Blending nostalgia with up-to-the-minute technical wizardry, including real time video animation and live projected backdrops, ‘Beauty and the Beast from Mars' is a witty and original take on the classic fairy tale. The ‘Beauty' of the title is poptastic singing icon Bobby Beauty, who finds himself hotly pursued by the Beast, evil queen of Mars. Can Bobby stop the Beast and her evil plan to destroy Planet Earth?

Director Bill Scott says: "If you've ever sniggered at the wobbly scenery of an early Dr Who adventure or groaned at a ‘Carry On' gag; if you enjoy sci-fi movies like ‘Barbarella' or are a fan of British singing sensations Billy Fury and Marty Wilde, then this affectionate send-up of 1960s pop culture will be right up your street. It's all here: groovy space vixens, well-worn jokes, foot-tapping popular songs and dazzling 2D effects!"

With a far-out plot and an array of over-the-top characters, lovers of traditional pantomime will find plenty to enjoy. There's a handsome but soppy hero, a feisty heroine, a beautiful villain and an unconventional pantomime dame, Major Bunty, spearhead of Britain's endearingly hopeless space programme. And, with live music from Bobby Beauty and his band, the whole family will be rocking along to original Sixties-inspired tunes!

The ‘Beauty and the Beast from Mars' national tour begins on 24 November 2010 and runs until February 2011. For tour details and booking information, visit the website on
