Now in its third year, the Fal Fish Festival takes places over the bank holiday weekend and offers a feast of cookery demonstrations, live music, childrens entertainment and a bustling market.

Situated on Events Square, Falmouth, the festival take centre stage amongst an area of diverse culture. Surrounded by bars, restaurants, shops, delis & the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, the event is a freat family day out with a bundle of activities on offer.

Sunday, June 3


10am - Marquee opens to the public.

11am - Opening Ceremony followed by Cookery Demo by Fiona Were

Head Chef at Falmouth’s four star Greenbank Hotel. Fiona focuses on sustainability, seasonality, provenance and flavour.

Originally from New Zealand, Fiona has been named as one of the top female chefs in the country. She will be showcasing popular fish and seafood dishes that feature regularly on her daily menus.

12pm - Squash Box Theatre presents 'The Sea Show'

The Sea Show celebrates Cornwall’s unique relationship with the ocean using puppets, narration and live music.

It is a quirky mix of storytelling, puppet show, natural history programme and cabaret, with tall tales, comedy characters, fascinating facts, songs, superstitions, recipes, remedies, rhymes and riddles for children and adults of all ages!

1pm - Live music from Cuban/Latin band Quijada.

2pm - Annie Sibert: Simple Fish Cookery

Having worked as a fish monger in Cornwall for the past 25 years, Annie’s philosophy is ‘the simpler the better’. 

Annie’s demonstration aims to take the confusion away and give you the confidence to cook some of Cornwall’s wonderful fish.

3pm - Live music from Cuban/Latin band Quijada.

3.45pm - Introduction of Fish Auction by Annie Sibert

4pm - Fish Auction: In aid of the Fishermen’s Mission.

The Fishermen’s Mission is the only national charity caring specifically for the UK’s fishermen and their families.

It provides emergency and welfare support to sick, injured, disabled, retired and seagoing fishermen, their families, and, all too often, their widows.

The Mission’s welfare centre at Newlyn provides this care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

11am - Paul Ripley: dishes from Rick Stein Seafood Bar

The very Talented Mr. Ripley from Rick Stein’s Seafood Bar above Stein’s Fish and Chips.  Come along and watch as he demonstrates some stylish dishes.

Arty Williams is Head Chef and proprietor at The Cove, an award-winning restaurant that specialises in seafood and is passionate about seasonal, local produce.

3pm - Black Rock Jazz Band
