The Greenbank Fal River Festival was officially opened last Friday with celebrations on and off the River.
Three ferries departed Trelissick pontoon full to the brim with people, pasties and lashings of real ale, which is specially brewed for the occasion. Two A&P tugs also joined the fleet and on entering Falmouth, let their jet streams soak most of the party.
Betty Stoggs, from Skinners brewery made a special appearance and came along for the ride.
Each ferry provided its own entertainment from Sea Shanty singing to Samba drumming and a spot of Jazz. A mixture of music which varied depending on the direction of the wind or which way the ferry pointed mixed in with laughing and talking.
On arrival at Events Square the festival was officially opened by Lady Mary Holborow with the relevant speeches and praises. Truro School of Samba then took to the stage with the beating drums and sparkle-tastic costumes. To end the evening Falmouth Soul Sensations entertained the crowds, accompanied by Betty on stage.
This not-for-profit community event took many months of organising with oodles of hard work thus allowing everyone involved cause for much celebration.
What a success...
