Join the Beer Fleet and head to Falmouth for the start of the Festival.
The Truro & Penwith College Fal River Festival opens on Friday, June 1 with the sailing of the Beer Fleet and the Opening Ceremony.
The launch of the Festival is one of the highlights of the year and is an event not to be missed.
The celebrations begin at 4.30pm from the King Harry Ferry where invited guests board the ferries at Trelissick Pontoon with the 'festival ale' from Skinner's Brewery, one of the Festival's Day Sponsors.
On board the ferries will be complimentary Skinner’s ale, soft drinks and pasties from Prima Bakeries, one of the Friends of the Festival. The Truro School of Samba Band will be onboard the ferries to help us celebrate as we head down stream.
The first day of the Festival is sponsored by A&P Group and their tugs from Falmouth will join the flotilla as we sail down the river. Also on hand will be Carbis Bay Hotel's Sunseeker and a whole host of other crafts.
If you have your own boat or craft, we would love for you to join the Beer Fleet and escort the beer down the Fal River to Falmouth, landing at Custom House Quay.
The parade will move at 6-7 knots. and if your vessel could join us too then the more the merrier!
The grand entrance will be at approximately 5.30pm. As the Beer Fleet enters Falmouth harbour, the A&P Tugs open their water cannons for a spectacular entrance.
The fleet lands at Custom House Quay at aprroximately 6pm. On berthing at Custom House Quay, guests are asked to make their way to Events Square, along with anyone else that would like to join the parade, where the party will begin!
The Opening Speeches of the Festival taker place at 6.30pm. When these draw to a close there will be a showcase of music from the Festival's Title Sponsor - Truo & Penwith College. Jazz by Degree, the college's official jazz band, will be bringing their blend of jazz to the Festival.
Make sure you bring your dancing shoes because these are some of the most talented youngsters in Cornwall.
Once they (and the bar!) have warmed up the crowd, Falmouth Soul Sensations will take to the stage at around 8pm.
They'll be packing a great deal of heart and soul to get our party into full swing. The band consists of a core of experienced musicians who offer the opportunity to other local musicians and singers of all ages and abilities to work in a band environment, or simply keep their hand in.
The result is a vibrant and exciting mix of ages and instruments backed by a solid core of excellent and experienced musicians.
The bar will be open until late so don't miss out on one of the top events in Falmouth's calendar. Come and join Skinner's Betty Stogs and dance the night away on Events Square.
We can't wait to see you and we promise you'll have a great time.
