The Story Republic is a new initiative which celebrates the place of the story in our culture and the craft of the writer,
A shop of stories, whose shelves are packed with inspiration and ideas, whose floors are a labyrinth of secret places and treasure troves designed to encourage explorations and incite the senses.
Think writer’s shed and the museum of the unexpected.
For the Fal River Festival we have teamed up with Rogue Theatre and their wonderful caravan to create a story emporium where small groups of all ages will be treated to short, sometimes amusing, sometimes moving mini theatre moments away from the bustle of the streets.
“My boys and I enjoyed sitting in the caravan enormously. Brilliant!” a member of the public on the Story Republic in Liskeard
But also look out for our team of glamorous Story Republicans who will be out and about in the town sharing stories and poems and encouraging people to visit the caravan. Throughout this event we shall be celebrating the writing of the Cornish poet Charles Causley.
“Our aim on the day is to delight and enchant children, families and adventurous adults with stories, poems and secrets …” said Amanda Harris, joint creator of the Story Republic
We shall be in residence in Falmouth on the Prince of Wales Pier on May 29th, 20th and 31st from 11am – 3pm. This is a free event.
