10am-5pm Come down to Events Square and see the artists' market, outside the Maritime Museum in Falmouth. Inspired by the artists' street markets in Paris this showing of local art is a great excuse to have a stroll down to the square to see what's on offer...
Inspired by the artists street markets in Paris, Madrid and London , Lea Parry and Jo James brought their idea to Falmouth Festivals Ltd who were delighted to be associated with the project.
Lea and Jo believe that these markets are great outlets for local artists as well as attracting visitors from all over the world.
Cornwall is a huge centre for artists and a regular market like this is a simple but effective way of promoting their work to a wide audience. In Europe and London these markets are huge tourists attractions and draw people into the town bringing valuable revenue.
The pitches for the artists are priced so that new up and coming artists and students can afford to exhibit their work as well as the established artists.
Mike Rangecroft, speaking as a director of Falmouth Festivals commented "We are delighted to welcome this exciting new initiative to Events Square .It is exactly the sort of project the Square was designed for and will enhance all the other events that are planned for this year.
All artists who live and work in Cornwall are invited to exhibit but it is on a first come first served basis. They can book as many or as few weeks as they wish
