Malcolm Sutcliffe is holding an open day at his studio and will be demonstrating the art of glass blowing.

There is no danger of people feeling cold in the cosy glassblowing studio, you are not charged an entrance fee just walk in and take in the atmosphere.

Malcolm will try to answer the many questions people throw at him about glassmaking and he is happy for visitors to take photographs.

Glassblowing is a fascinating craft to watch and this is a perfect opportunity for visitors to get close up and see what goes into creating a beautiful piece of glassware. Feel the heat from the furnace, see the equipment in the studio and handle the tools that the glassmakers use.

Glass is a truly amazing material, when hot it is molten and fluid which turns solid in seconds, from a simple glob of molten glass the glassmaker can blow, stretch and twist, turn and pull the glass into the shapes he wants.

You will also have the opportunity to buy the demonstration pieces and the gallery will be open for visitors to see the wide variety of finished glassware.

Bring your friends everyone is welcome!
