If all the world’s a stage then why not the National Maritime Museum Cornwall? For summer 2009 the Maritime Museum is launching a fantastic new venture - outdoor theatre productions the weather can’t spoil.
For three very special nights this summer the Museum's vast main hall will be transformed by live drama, music, dance and song. And the wonderful informality of these outdoor productions makes them perfect for the whole family.
The first production is Miracle Theatre's interpretation of Molière classic comedy Tartuffe on the 19 June. Miracle Theatre apply their love of satire, farce and physical theatre to Moliere's sharpest comedy. Tickets are £10 for adults, £6 children or £25 for a family of four.
Then on the 17 July, Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents Shakespeare's glorious romantic comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream. This magical evening is simply the best in family entertainment as flitting fairies, forest-bound lovers and raucous tradesmen all join to create the perfect summer evening. Tickets are £12 for adults, £8 for children and £35 for a family of four.
And on 25 August Heartbreak Theatre brings wild woods, winding lanes, high jinks and increasingly ill-advised modes of transport to the Museum, with The Wind in the Willows. Take a trip with Toad and chums and revel in their outlandish adventures in this inventive and effervescent tale. Tickets are £12 for adults, £8 for children and £35 for a family of four.
Previous summers have shown that the weather doesn't always shine but under the security of the Museum's roof, in the vast heart of its main hall, surrounded by a sky of flying boats and the soft lapping of the sea just yards away, the Maritime Museum can offer you an outdoor/indoor experience which is unique and dry! To book your tickets please call 01326 214546, then just bring along a cushion or blanket, sit back and enjoy.
