History comes alive at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall with the first lunchtime lecture of 2013.
Date: Mon, Jan 7th 2013
With the fall of France in 1940 almost the entire coastline of Western Europe was in German hands. Clandestine sea transport operations provided lines of vital intelligence for wartime Britain.
These ‘Secret Navies,’ including the Helford Flotilla, landed and picked up agents from France and ferried Allied evaders and escapees.
Join Derek Carter as he recounts the story of the men who served in the last operation from Helford on Christmas Day 1943.
Set lunch and lecture £14.50 (Members £12.50)
