Join the award-winning chef Mark Hix for an evening of great British food. Mark will be cooking a three-course menu at The Ferryboat Inn with in-house head chef Ben Lightfoot on the evening of Friday 9th April 2010. In Mark's signature British style, this one-off menu will showcase Cornish producers and local ingredients.

The Ferryboat Inn at Helford Passage is delighted to welcome Mark who will also be sharing his passion in a talk about his style in British cooking and the abundance of fantastic ingredients available to us today.

Mark Hix, renowned restaurateur and food writer has become widely known for his pioneering role in reviving our interest in British gastronomy. Mark's unrivalled passion in sourcing and cooking with great British ingredients has inspired chefs up and down the country, a movement that has finally made us a nation proud of our food.

After his appearance on the Great British Menu and wowing the judges with his modern take on the Cornish Star Gazey Pie, Mark Hix became up much talked about star. In his role as Chef Director of London's most revered establishments for 17 years including The Ivy, J Sheekey his menu fed a plethora of celebrities from Madonna to Michael Caine. In 2008 Mark left to open his own restaurant Hix Oyster & Chop House, which has been so successful he now has since opened two more London establishments Hix in Soho, and most recently Hix Oyster & Champagne Bar in London's most fashionable department store Selfridges. His fourth restaurant HIX Oyster & Fish House is located in Lyme Regis.
