From 7 September to 5 October, Trebah Garden will be hosting an exhibition of work by the artist, Julia Lafferty. Julia lives in a small cottage on a farm in St. Merryn, near Padstow and is the mother to 5 children. Her father was an artist and gardener and he encouraged her artistic passion from an early age. She became a professional artist after her family had started to grow up and returned to college in 1993, where she obtained a foundation degree in art and design. Since then she spends as much time as possible in the countryside, accompanied by her two dogs, camera and sketchpad. Julia says:

"Painting for me is an obsessive habit which I love. I am often found painting long into the night and early morning. Oil painting is my usual medium, although I sometimes mix in sand, forest flooring or other interesting finds. I work on several paintings at one time. Flitting between ocean, harbour and garden scenes to capture that little moment in time for myself and others to remember".

Julia's last exhibition was "A Small Point of View" in 2009 at The Picture House Gallery in Padstow. She is a regular exhibitor at The Picture House Gallery, Rosels Restaurant in St Merryn and Demelza's Gallery in Falmouth.

Regarding her exhibition at Trebah, Julia says: "I am pleased and excited to have been invited to exhibit at Trebah Garden, as this beautiful garden has always been my favourite place to visit. With spectacular plants in all seasons, it has an air of romance and is very atmospheric".
