With a different theme every week and free fun filled drop-in activities everyday they’re set for a summer sizzler at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall - the South West’s Visitor Attraction of the Year.  And with awesome art activities every weekend and the chance to get outside and do some crabbing on the Museum’s pontoon the whole family is bound to get caught up in the fun.

The exciting weekly activities launch on the 25 July and run until 1 September with themes including: Swashbuckling Pirates (25-31 July & 15-21 August) – aha me hearties, make your own pirate hat, create a parrot for your shoulder and help design a giant pirate galleon; Neptune and the Secrets of the Deep (1-7 August & 22-28 August) - dive into Neptune’s cave and design sea-monster masks, animate an octopus and create all manner of weird and wonderful creatures; Cornish Sea Creatures (8-14 August) - be a gene genius and celebrate Darwin’s 200th year by creating a magnificent sea mobile and mini eco-system and ‘evolve’ your own fish of the future; and there is also the hugely popular Scrapheap Challenge & Boat Race (29 August-1 September) - plunder the Museum’s ‘scrap-heap’ to build your own boat then challenge your friends to see who’s fastest across the boat pool.

Also, every weekend of the summer holidays roll up your sleeves for fun filled art activities.  They’re messy, they’re fun, they’re hands-on and you’ll love them!

And every day from 25 July to 1 September there’s your chance to go crabbing!  The Museum will give you the bait, line and bucket, expert help and a safe and friendly place to test your crabbing skills – they’ll even do the messy bits!  Weather permitting crabbing takes place from 10.45-12pm and 2-3.30pm every day and costs just 50p.  Places are limited so please book on arrival.

The exciting drop-in activities at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth run everyday from 12-3.30pm and all drop-in activities are free with your Museum entrance ticket, but adult supervision is required.  And don’t forget, when you pay once to get into the South West’s Visitor Attraction of the Year you can get in free for the whole year!
