MARQUÉS DE RISCAL
The oldest Rioja house has been a pioneering company for many years. Founded in Álava in 1858, from the outset it has been a point of reference in the wine-making business at both national and international level. It became the first winery in Rioja to produce wines following the Bordeaux method, and in 1972 it was the first winery to promote the Rueda Designation of Origin, where it produced its famous Marqués de Riscal white wines. The wines sell in more than 100 countries and enjoy the highest international distinctions as well as numerous awards and mentions in the media. In 2013, it was named Best European Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast Magazine in their Wine Star Awards.
