On this course you will learn a number of simple, seasonal and delicious dishes that can be easily recreated at home.
In today's world demands on our time are high, so the aim of the course is to equip you with the skills to recreate quick, healthy, delicious meals at home in a relatively short period of time.
The emphasis is on making everything from scratch but we'll teach you some labour saving tips and tricks to speed up the process.
This is a hands-on course where you will be cooking, sampling and tasting a number of different delicious dishes. We recommend that you skip breakfast the morning of this course as you'll need a big appetite to get through the day!
Welcome: Meet your host and tutor, see for yourself the Philleigh Way farmhouse cookery school and garden. Enjoy a morning tea or coffee and tasty Philleigh Way treat.
Simple fish cookery. You'll learn some straightforward filleting techniques, how to source and identify a variety of fish and how to establish fish quality. George will then demonstrate a simple fish dish such as baked Cornish sardines, roasted root vegetables and salsa verde or mackerel with courgette and basil chutney.
Practical Session One
You will then get hands-on creating your very own fish dish which you can sit down and enjoy around the table.
Chicken satay with quick and easy salad
Practical Session Two
Students make their own chicken satay skewers served with a cucumber, radish, chilli and mint salad which they then can sit and enjoy.
Slow-cooked lamb shank with pearl barley. George will show students how to produce this hearty slow-cooked main course which is perfect for preparing in advance to enjoy when you get home from work.
Practical Session Three
Students prepare and cook their own slow-cooked dish to take away at the end of the day.
Pasta – quick, simple and a firm favourite but did you know how easy it is to make your own? George demonstrates how to make pasta from scratch to create a delicious simple supper.
Practical Session Four
Students then prepare and cook shellfish linguine (yes you will be making the pasta!). You'll then get the opportunity of tucking into your dish with a glass of good wine.
Fast and easy puddings
George will demonstrate the Classic crème brulee with lemon shortbreads which students will then be able to sample, if they have room left!
Please Note: Students are asked to bring with them a container suitable for taking home a warm casserole in.

Age: We would advise that this course is only really suitable for 14 years of age and upwards. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
