The Wonder Stuff

from 19/04/2010 until 19/04/2010.

Monday 19th April

SW1 Productions present

The Wonder Stuff will perform the HUP album in its entirety (and in the originally intended order). The show will also feature some of the extra tracks that appeared on single releases during this era along with a greatest hits selection recorded by the group during their colourful twenty-four year career.

When the Wonder Stuff released their first album, The Eight Legged Groove Machine, in 1988, the British press wrote scores of articles about the band, mainly because of the arrogant self-confidence of their leader, vocalist/guitarist Miles Hunt. Hunt's brash public image was the Wonder Stuff personified -- mean, self-satisfied, self-serving, and scathingly witty. Accordingly, their colourful mixture of pop melodies, loud guitars, sneering lyrics, and touches of dance music was sometimes brilliant and sometimes banal.

After a break up in 1994 the band have been back together since the early 2000s and have continued to play shows and festivals all over the world ever since. In June 2009, the group headlined the Avalon Stage at the Glastonbury Festival, one of a number of festival appearances at which the group would appear during the year.  December 2009 saw the group return to their original stomping ground with a very special homecoming show at the 02 Academy in Birmingham to perform their HUP album in its entirety which was recorded for release early in 2010 along with a full studio re-recording of their classic 1989 album.

With extremely special guests still to be announced for this show we suggest you get you tickets quickly as this will be one very special gig.
