Where to Eat of the Week: The Flying Fish at St Michaels Hotel

11 July 2016

The award-winning Flying Fish at St Michaels Hotel in Falmouth is our where to eat of the week.

As the seasons change so do our menus. Our summer inspired cuisine is passionately prepared using the freshest local ingredients, meaning every dish you experience is alive with colour and bursting with flavour.

For a bit of inspiration here are our Chef and restaurant teams recommendations. Pop in and try them out for yourself.

Delicious pan fried Cornish Hake, served on a crab and pea risotto with a shellfish bisque, samphire and candid lemon. Quench your thirst with a crisp New Zealand Frost Pocket Sauvignon Blanc 2014.

Hot smoked mackerel, mussels, and crab claws seafood platter, served with a garden salad, saffron aioli, rye bread. A great one accompaniment is the Picpoul de Pinet , a wonderfully crisp French wine, refreshing on the palate with a lovely orchard fragrance.

Locally caught fresh cod, with Sea Dog Batter (St Michaels very own real ale), pea puree, tartare sauce. Try this with a glass or bottle of Jacquart Brut (nothing better than Fizz & Chips).

Braised lamb shoulder with a lamb bon bon, roasted piccolo parsnips, crisp capers & rosemary ju, Great with a glass of D'Abruzzo (Montepuliciano) (bold & full – a little bit of spice which complements the rich lamb well).

In addition if its just a summer cocktail your after, take to our alfresco terrace and order one of our Kernow Sours, Tarquins Gin, topped with Knightor Cornish prosecco, served over crushed ice.
