Fal River Faves: Harbour Lights

20 July 2016

When in Cornwall, you simply have to enjoy fish and chips!

Fresh Cornish fish straight from the ocean and into the fryer, tasty and battered served with top notch chips all made from Cornish potatoes!

Our ultimate favourite fish and chip restaurant has to be Harbour Lights in Falmouth. Recent winners of 'Best in the West' for the Best Independent Takeaway Fish & Chip Shop in Cornwall and named by Fry.com magazine in the top ten fish and chip restaurants in the UK, these guys are leading in the fish and chip stakes.

You can eat in or take away, both options are great - eating in means you receive the great customer service, can enjoy the lovely harbour views and an extensive restaurant menu or for takeaway, you get a nice little box, wooden fork and you can head round the corner to sit on the pier or drive to Pendennis Point or the beach just moments away to enjoy your delicious fish somewhere in the open air. One thing's for sure, it will be freshly cooked and delicious.

All of the ingredients are local and one sure sign of a great chippy is the locals queuing up every evening to order their favourites. They offer Meal Deals, Takeaway Specials and even their very own Poisson Club where regulars get money off, exclusive deals and info on new recipes and special events.

All of the fish is local from fish merchant Matthew Stevens and has been 100% responsibly sourced and this has been the Harbour Lights way for the past 10 years. Sustainability is key and Harbour Lights have recently been shortlisted for Best Sustainable Business at the Cornwall Business Awards as well as receiving a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence. In fact, it's the highest ranking dedicated fish and chip restaurant on TripAdvisor in Falmouth, that says it all... the people have spoken! A recent review said it was the best fish and chips they had tasted in the UK! We can't help but agree, it's our kind of plaice!
