Best Proposal Spots

10 August 2016

There is nowhere better than Cornwall to pop the question in style. We've put together our failsafe proposal guide for the best places to ask those all-important 4 words right on our doorstep. Read on for romance-spiration...

In a castle

It doesn't come much more romantic than this! Imagine entering the historic Cornish castle built by Henry VIII, climbing the circular stone staircase to the castle roof and gazing over the panoramic views of Falmouth. Pack 2 small plastic flutes and a mini bottle of bubbly and enjoy it after getting down on one knee like a true knight in shining armour!

On the beach

Why not head to Gyllyngvase Beach or perhaps Castle Beach for something a bit quieter. Inbetween Pendennis Point and Castle Beach there is another small secluded cove that completely disappears when the tide comes in but that's a really romantic and peaceful spot too! Pop the question in style on the sand (write it in the sand with a pebble, cheesy but has-to-be-done) or perhaps sneak a bottle with a message hidden in between the rocks then stumble across it together. Celebrate afterwards with Champagne Afternoon Tea in either Falmouth Hotel or St Michael's to start the celebrations as you mean to go on!

On the water

Why not ask the big "will you marry me?" on our very own Enterprise Boat? Sail to Truro, Falmouth or St Mawes and ask on board as you enjoy the sights and the river breeze! It's bound to be a surprise and no matter where you're getting off there will be somewhere to celebrate your news!

On a private balcony

The best balcony view in Cornwall? It has to be Room 101 at the Greenbank. They do romance like no other! We highly recommend their Romance Break – make sure you ask for Room 101 and arrive to petals on the bed, a deep luxurious bath overlooking the water and the most magnificent balcony, made for getting down on one knee!

In a garden

Why not pop the question at Trelissick? The most picturesque location overlooking Fal River (we're slightly biased), there's 300 acres to explore. We highly recommend their Secret Walk, the perfect place to share your burning question!

Over a romantic dinner

There is an array of places to enjoy a luxury dinner with a view in Cornwall but one of our favourites is the terrace of iconic hotel, the Tresanton. Enjoy a decadent dinner watching the water, before tearing your eyes away from the view! This is no mean feat but we reckon a diamond could do it!

Glamping

For those looking for a truly unique idea, how about a glamping break? King Harry Glamping is a real trip back to nature, complete with a state of the art ecopod and cooking area! The best bit? Guests receive free use of the kayaks to explore the Fal River and surrounding creeks. Could there be anything more romantic than finding a secluded creek and popping the question? Just make sure she doesn't fall out of her kayak!

We love a good proposal story, do let us know if you've chosen Cornwall as your place to pop the question and keep an eye out here for our brand new wedding offering, launching in a few weeks time!
