Our Favourite Dog Friendly Breaks in Cornwall – Part Two

30 November 2016

We brought you our dog friendly favourites last month and it was so popular, we’re bringing you a second instalment!

Merchant House

We love this friendly hotel in the centre of Truro. Dogs receive their very own welcome pack, there’s free doggy treats on the bar, a log burner for them to cosy up to and dogs are even allowed at breakfast (at a designated time and a designated doggy area). But our favourite bit is the super heated doggy shower! The first in Cornwall, your pampered pooch can expect shampoo, fluffy towels and a heated outdoor shower to rinse off those muddy paws, before relaxing next to the fire afterwards. Not only that, dogs stay FREE! Pawfect!

Greenbank Hotel

We love the Greenbank for dogs, they have their own private beach! Step out of the hotel and onto the beach where you can run Fido, playing fetch all morning! Afterwards, head to the Greenbank pub “The Working Boat” where dogs are heartily welcomed, and you can enjoy a delicious meal and a glass of something chilled whilst Fido recovers from the fun and games from earlier! The Greenbank include a blanket, food and water bowls plus some gourmet 100% fresh meat treats supplied by Bob & Lush – we like the sound of this!

The Alverton

This is the place to send your pampered pooch, it’s a four star dream! With stunning grounds and only a short walk to hop onto one of our Enterprise Boats, it’s the best location! Dogs are welcome in the main hotel at £10 per dog, per night – not bad for four star luxury!

Cornish Holiday Cottages

Pets are always welcome at Cornish Holiday Cottages with over 50% of their properties being dog friendly!  With a selection of properties in the Falmouth and Helford River area, you can expect beautiful beaches, character cottages, pretty villages and dog walks-a-plenty to keep Rover entertained! Our favourite? Carvinack Cottage in Mylor: a pretty grade II cottage tucked away down a long leafy private drive. With a lovely garden and a toasty logburner, it’s got all you need for a cosy break with your bestie in Cornwall.

St Michael’s Hotel

When we think Cornwall we think beach and it doesn’t come more beachy than this! St Michael’s Hotel is adjacent to Falmouth’s most famous sandy dog friendly (from October to Easter) beach and, not only that… it’s less than 5 minutes walk from two other dog friendly beaches, a nature reserve and a cliff path with a dog friendly exercise field. For those fancying a longer trip, try the circular walk around Pendennis Point and see Falmouth from the highest point.

Dog friendly rooms are situated in The Captain’s House, just a few feet away from the main hotel, overlooking Falmouth Bay. The hotel supply dog beds, food and water bowls as well as tasty treats and they even have a dedicated pooch themed Pinterest board – Woof! Regrettably dogs cannot enter the main hotel but Gylly Beach Café, just a few feet away welcome dogs outside and they have heat lamps to ensure you’re cosy too!
