Fal River Faves : St Mawes Kayaks

26 July 2017

The picturesque fishing village of St Mawes is almost surrounded by water and boasts some of the best paddling spots in Cornwall.

Hiring a kayak one of the easiest and fun ways to get afloat. St Mawes Kayaks have an excellent fleet of 1 and 2 person stable, sit-on kayaks and all you need to get paddling.

Where to go...

Percuil River

For beautiful scenery and crystal clear, sheltered waters, head down the Percuil River. The Percuil is one of the charmingly unspoilt and navigable tributaries of the Fal River. The woooded banks surrounding the creeks are home to a great many species of birds and other wildlife.

St. Anthony's Head

The more adventurous can explore St. Anthony's Head (sea state permitting). Paddle right up to the famous Fraggle Rock lighthouse and you may be joined by a playful seal or two! Along with many cormorants, shags and gulls. On the way back, stop off for a picnic at Molunan Beach or choose from a number of secluded coves.

St. Just in Roseland

Head north towards the picturesque St. Just in Roseland. Paddle into the pool at high water for a stunning view of the "most beautiful churchyard in England". You can pull your kayaks up on the beach in front of the boatyard, and stroll up to Miss. V's Cornish Cream Tea Hut. This will give you the energy for the paddle back!
