The Romance Review : The Alverton

25 January 2018

Grade II listed, four-star silver AA rated and surrounded by beautiful grounds, The Alverton Hotel is perfect for couples seeking a romantic escape filled with pure and utter indulgence.

Romance Revealed (our favourite parts)

The location - A little piece of tranquility in the city,  The Alverton is perfectly placed for exploring Cornwall's best bits. Perched on its hillside setting and nestled amongst magnificent private grounds, it's easy to forget you're just a short stroll from the heart of Truro.

The historic grandeur -
Once a private manor house, then the home of nuns, this magnificent hotel has lived through many guises since the 1830's. We love how the original architectural features of the building have been uncovered and tastefully paired with stylish modern luxuries.

The tiny details -
The attention to detail and little in-room extras are what really impressed us. From the high-end, beautifully fragranced range of toiletries, to the the soft floor lights that switch on automatically as you walk from room to room, everything throughout the hotel has been taken care of so you don't have to lift a finger.

The food -
Awarded a prestigious double AA Rosette, food is very much the forte at The Alverton. The hotel's restaurant offers a relaxed yet decadent dining experience perfect for a candlelit dinner a deux. The menu focuses on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and showcases celtic inspired cuisine at its absolute finest.

If you're booking that special room make sure you book:

With 50 unique and luxurious rooms, you're spoilt for choice at The Alverton. Modern fixtures and bespoke furnishings complement the breathtaking original features throughout this historic 18th century manor.

Our personal favourite is the Chapel Suite, situated in The Courtyard, a detached wing of the hotel offering peace and privacy. This stunning and spacious suite will tempt you to hang up the "Do Not Disturb" sign and stay put, from the moment you step inside. It features a glorious vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and stone feature wall. Taking centre stage is the roll top copper bath-tub that sits below a stained glass window and takes your romantic getaway to the next level.

Must-dos when staying at The Alverton for romance:

Enjoy a sensual soak...
in the roll top bath then wrap up warm in the plush hotel robes.

Prosecco arrival...
The hotel is renowned for its imaginative wine list and extensive champagne collection, for a special occasion, pre-order a chilled bottle of Prosecco in your room ready for when you arrive.

Cocktails...
The hotels mixologists have a passion for perfectly created cocktails, linger around the stylish bar with its ambient lighting and elegant furnishings and sample one of the hotels speciality tipples (or two).

Explore the grounds...
Take a romantic stroll around the grounds and marvel at its architecture and beauty. There's so much to uncover from the hotel's most prized feature: The Great Hall, to the beautiful bell tower, the ivy clad walls and plenty of hidden romantic spots to sneak a private kiss.

Spoil yourself and your significant other and book your romantic retreat at The Alverton Hotel...
