Best Fal River Festival yet promise organisers

From 21 May 2013

The 2013 Truro & Penwith College Fal River Festival will be the best one yet according to organisers.

It's just days to go until the launch of the 2013 Truro & Penwith College Fal River Festival and with more events at more venues this one promises to be the best yet.

The annual festival, run by Fal River Cornwall and sponsored by Truro & Penwith College, is now in its eighth year and is a celebration of life on the Fal River.

'This stunning river, steeped in rich history and heritage, helps the economy in this small corner of the world thrive and grow stronger year on year,' says festival director, Tommy Tonkins.

'It's enjoyed by thousands of visitors and cherished by the people who are fortunate enough to live here. This 10-day festival celebrates everything that makes the river an inspiration to so many people. You'll find art, music, drama, food, sport, walks, history, culture and more.

'We hope that through the 10-days you'll explore, discover and enjoy the river with us.'

The festival runs between May 24 and June 2 with the launch event - the almost world-famous Beer Fleet procession - taking place on Friday, May 24. There's even the chance to win tickets to the launch on the Fal River Cornwall Facebook page

Highlights this year include the Castle to Castle Swim, Jazz on the Quay, the Roseland Adventure Race, Mussels on the Fal, Story Republic on the Pier and the BF Adventure Abseil.

Tommy added: 'The festival would't be possible without our sponsors and I like to say a huge thank you to Truro & Penwith College as well as our day sponsors A & P, Helpful Holidays, Classic Sailing, King Harry Ferry, Enterprise Boats, Falmouth University, Francis Clark, MPAD, Skinners Brewery and Fal River.'
