Fal River Autumn Walking Festival off to a stomping start

From 22 October 2012

The Fal River Autumn Walking Festival, sponsored by The Nare, launched on Friday, October 19 and saw a weekend of walking in some glorious autumnal Cornish weather.

The second Fal River Autumn Walking Festival, sponsored by The Nare, is now well underway.

The Festival launched on Friday, October 19 with a guided walk for special invited guests around Nare Head on the Roseland to The Nare for afternoon tea.

Festival sponsors, walk guides and Festival organisers all took part in the walk on a gorgeous autumn's afternoon.

The walkers wound there way around the stunning Nare Head where there are fabulous views to the south west looking towards Portscatho and the tip of the Roseland while in the opposite direction there is the south Cornwall coast and the imposing Dodman.

The walk followed the South West Coast Path which took the walkers straight to the doors of The Nare where they were greeted by afternoon tea provided by the Festival's title sponsor.

Speaking at the launch event, Festival Co-ordinator Tommy Tonkins said: 'It's wonderful to see so many people here from such a range of organisations.

'Events like these would not be possible without the commitment, collaboration and passion put into it by everyone who is involved in it, from the sponsors to the walk guides.

'It's because of the strength of these partnerships that during the next two weeks we'll see more and more people walking and enjoying the magical, majestic and unspoilt beauty of this mazing part of the world.'

The launch event was followed by a series of guided walks taking place over the weekend including Little White Alice's 'To the top of the World…and back again walk' and Rachel Lambert's 'Coastal and Hedgerow Wild Food Foraging Walk.'

The Festival runs until November 4 and there are still plenty of great Cornish Guided Walks taking place as well as our selection of Self-Guided Walks to enjoy.
