One of Cornwall's leading hotels has signed up to support the county's newest festival.

Fal River Autumn Walking Festival

One of Cornwall's leading hotels has signed up to support the county's newest festival.

The Nare Hotel has agreed to be headline sponsor for the 2011 Fal River Autumn Walking Festival.

Running from Friday, October 21 to Sunday, November 6, the festival will feature over 60 guided and self-guided walks covering the Fal river area from the Roseland to Helford.

Toby Ashworth, proprietor of The Nare, said: 'We were very keen to take the lead in supporting the festival. I feel Cornwall should be doing much more to promote walking as an activity, making the most of the natural assets Cornwall has to offer.

'With the stunning South West coast path right in front of the Hotel and lovely beaches and creeks on The Roseland there are many fabulous walks, long and short, for visitors and locals to enjoy.

'This a delightful time of year to appreciate Cornwall.'

Getting involved

Other sponsors signed up to support the event include Little White Alice, Aspects Holidays, Roseland Cottages, Helpful Holidays, National Maritime Musuem, Hotel Tresanton and Falmouth and District Hotels Association.

With a range of opportunities available starting at just £25, companies interested in getting involved should contact the festival in the next few days.

Festival sponsorship manager, Helen Mulhern of Eventy - Marketing & PR, said: 'We're very excited that The Nare has agreed to support the festival, which is the first of its kind on this scale in this area.

'The team at The Nare back the festival's aims to encourage more visitors as well as locals to the area to provide a boost for local accommodation providers and other businesses in autumn.'

Festival organisers will produce a free walking guidebook that will feature all of the guided and self-guided walks around the Fal River area, stretching as far as the Roseland Peninsula in the east and Helford in the west.

Amazing walks

All of the festivals guided walks are being co-ordinated by Paul Simmons from walkitcornwall who is keen to hear from anyone who would like to put a guided walk into the festival.

Paul said: 'I think this festival will highlight the amazing walks around this area and there will be something for people of all ages and abilities.

'We are still looking for more guides to come forward and put in walks that they think other people will enjoy.

'It is free to enter a guided walk into the festival and it will then be featured in the festival guide that will be out in September, as well as the website which is already live.

'If you're interested in having your walk featured, please contact us as soon as possible as the programme will shortly go to print.'
