Two Roseland holiday accommodation providers are celebrating after winning big at the 2011 Cornwall Tourism Awards.

Roundhouse Barn Holidays
and Pollaughan Farm Cottages bagged three prestigious awards at the 10th annual Cornwall Tourism Awards, confirming the Roseland Peninsula as one of Cornwall’s premier holiday destinations.

Barbara and Mark Sadler, owners of Roundhouse Barn Holidays, were judged best small self-catering business in Cornwall. They were also runners up in the best B&B in Cornwall category. Valerie and Tim Penny, owners of Pollaughan Farm Cottages, were awarded silver in the small self-catering category.

Commenting on the awards, Barbara Sadler said: ‘We’re delighted with the recognition we’ve received. It’s the second consecutive year we’ve won both of these awards. It demonstrates the consistency and quality of the service we provide.’

Valerie Penny added: ‘We first won the best self catering in the south west 8 years ago so are delighted that we are still up there alongside the more niche “boutique” end of the market. Our business is all about offering superb accommodation for everyone while combining sustainability, accessibility and exceptional customer service. It’s great to be recognised for this.’

Tim Penny continued: ‘It’s really important that we attract and retain holiday makers on the Roseland. We cater very much for the family market and Roundhouse Barn Holidays are exclusively for adults as well as being a superb B&B. Our business are very different but also very complimentary.’

Mark Sadler added: ‘When we receive enquiries from families, we always refer them to Pollaughan Farm as we know they’re geared up for the market. `Similarly, when Valerie and Tim receive enquiries from couples wanting a true child free holiday or a very special Bed and Breakfast holiday, they send business our way.

Roundhouse Barn Holidays and Pollaughan Farm Cottages work closely together to market the Roseland Peninsula as a luxury holiday destination. They also share an ethos and commitment that caring for their local environment and helping educate their visitors to do the same will help ensure the preservation of the Roseland’s natural beauty, both holding Gold Green Tourism awards.
