Skippers' Blog | Fog!

From 20 June 2013

All the lastest from our skipper Simon Hammond about the happenings on the Place Ferry.

Today was a slowish start for Place ferry as the fog and mist suspended operations for all ferries.  Here one can see two of the St Mawes ferries rafted up until the fog moves away.

James's fishing trips were also suspended. Livingstone was also due a monthly service so we used Little G for a time, and Sam came on board for some training.

He takes his Boatman's test at the end of the month and will then be able to help out on the route.  We will be running two Place ferries in July and August.

Three men came on board in the afternoon. They hailed from Cape Town, Vancouver and Dallas and were in St Mawes with their wives as part of a band reunion, the second in some 45 years.  The band was called the Wanderers and played quite a lot of Beatles music. They were great fun to chat with, but were unable to give us a song,  and this is another example of the many and varied people we meet whilst motoring to Place and St Mawes.
