Skippers' Blog | A good grounding...

From 26 April 2013

Place Ferry Skipper, Simon Hammond, spends more time than anticipated with an American group from San Francisco.

Our Skippers will be blogging throughout the season, giving you an insight into the day to day life of the Cornwall Ferries fleet. The following is from Place Ferry Skipper, Simon Hammond.

Another great day on Place ferry for Simon, the skipper, with a steady stream of walkers and more international visitors.

Here is a picture of three very gracious and indeed generous Americans from San Francisco, who spent a very pleasant one and half hour tidal stop just off Place causeway with me.

We talked about the attractions of Cornwall, the Boston affair, the young of today, families and much more. A gentle series of conversations.

They return to the USA this weekend and did not seem to want to leave. They mentioned that they are used to similar weather off San Francisco, and at that moment the sun decided to appear.

They loved the chapel behind Place Manor. It is really good to see the Queen of Falmouth sailing to St Mawes again for the season.
