Skippers' Blog | Hottest day of the year

From 8 July 2013

The hottest day so far this year in St Mawes, and despite the tennis there were many people out and about in the harbour and on the sea.

We had two harbour trips today as well as the normal Place activity.

Two ferries in the high season make it all achievable and we can meet the St Mawes sailing club requirements as well.

Kayak Mark, as he is affectionately known, tends to his kayaks on the beach at low tide. He had a busy day this Sunday and he also provides a fast water taxi service to the Pandora inn and the Helford passage when required. Many people book him during the day for a fast trip around the bay.  The sea conditions were excellent for this activity. I have never seen the sea looking so calm.
The Idle Rocks hotel is now open and looks very smart in the background to this picture. The terrace is a very attractive location in this weather and one can watch daily life in St Mawes from this vantage point. The gigs lie on the sand awaiting a training session with their crews.
