Our Skippers will be blogging throughout the season, giving you an insight into the day to day life of the Cornwall Ferries fleet. The following is from Place Ferry Skipper, Simon Hammond.

A cold easterly breeze had started up and continued for some two weeks making passage to Place and Toddy steps a cold and sometimes 'baltic' affair for skippers' Simon, Christian and Alan.

Four layers of clothing for the boatman and gloves at times but the sun has a real strength when sheltered from the wind.

Passenger take up is only for the strong and committed walkers along the costal path, and fortunately the rain has kept away.

The locals stated that the last time it was this cold at Easter they had the hottest summer for some time.

The Idle Rocks hotel under refurbishment and new ownership sits in the background covered in scaffolding. We eagerly anticipate its opening planned for June. What a great location!
