Good Friday River Race

29 March 2013

Cornish rowers take to the water for an annual race up the River Fal from Mylor to Truro.

The grueling 7 mile course up the river to Truro is a true test of fitness.

The race starts from Mylor Yacht Harbour at 15.45pm with the smaller craft starting first.

The race is open to a range of different oar powered craft, previous entries include Cornish pilot gigs, surf rowing boats, flash boats, skiffs, kayaks, canoes and fine rowing boats.

Crews starts are staggered dependant on their class of boat and gender/age of the crew. This means slower competitors start before the faster ones giving everyone an equal chance to win the race to Truro.

Entrants will row past some of the finest scenery on the river fal, from the King Harry Ferry, the laid up ships and Smugglers Cottage at Tolverne.

For most crews the race is about an hour long, but this varies dependant on the craft and crew.

We're thinking of putting on a spectator boat for the event which will follow the race. If you would be interested in this please contact tiffany@falriver.co.uk
